District Studio: Everything That Shapes How District AI Answers, in One Place

District Studio gathers who your receptionist is, how it sounds, how it handles calls, what it can do and what it knows in one section of your dashboard.

District AI answers your business line, books appointments while the caller is on the phone, and hands off to a named person on your team when it should. Everything that decides how it does that used to live three clicks deep, under Platform Settings, in a tab most people never found twice.

Starting today, it has its own place in the dashboard: District Studio, a section of the left-hand menu with its own heading, right under the pages you use every day.

Why we moved it

The receptionist is the part of District AI you tune most. You change the greeting when the season changes, add a service when you start offering one, and connect a calendar when a new person joins. Those settings sat beside your phone providers and compliance lists, which you set once and rarely open again. Mixing the two made the everyday changes harder to find.

District Studio separates them. Everything about how your receptionist sounds, answers and works is in District Studio. Your numbers, providers and do-not-call list stay in Platform Settings.

What is in District Studio

Studio home. Your receptionist at a glance: its name, language and greeting, the voice it uses, who answers first, how many skills are on, what it knows and what it is connected to. Each card opens the page behind it, and the Test call button lets you talk to it from your browser before a customer does.

Persona. Who your receptionist is: its name, the greeting callers hear, its personality and the context it works from, the language it speaks, how long its answers run, and whether it tells callers they are speaking with an AI assistant.

Voice. How it sounds and how quickly it replies. Start from a ready-made setup (the fastest, the most natural, or one that stays in your region), then change any part: what it listens with, what it thinks with and the voice it speaks with. The page shows the time to first word and where each part of the call is processed.

Call handling. Whether your receptionist answers every call or the District app rings first, how long it waits before checking on a silent caller, rules that change how it answers a caller you already know, and the team directory it transfers calls to.

Skills. What it is allowed to do on a call, switch by switch: transfer to a person, take a message, check availability and book, cancel or reschedule appointments, email or text the caller, answer from your knowledge base and update the caller's record. The transfer numbers and the pictures it can text live here too.

Knowledge. What it answers from. Add documents to its knowledge base, and, new today, edit your business facts (hours, address, services and common questions) after setup. Until now those could only be written once, during setup.

Integrations. What it is connected to: Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 for bookings, District Desk for callers' requests, Jira, any API you connect, and the domain your emails come from.

Video. Turn on a video receptionist for video calls and choose the face it appears with.

A five-minute path

If you have not opened these settings since setup, this order works well:

  1. Open Studio home and read the cards. Anything that looks wrong is one click away.
  2. On Persona, read the greeting out loud. If it does not sound like your front desk, change it.
  3. On Knowledge, check your hours and services. These are the facts callers ask about most.
  4. On Skills, turn off anything you do not want it to do yet.
  5. Press Test call and ask it the three questions your customers ask most.

Nothing else changes

Your settings carried over as they were. Bookmarks and links to the old settings pages take you to the matching page in District Studio. District AI is included on every plan, and so is District Studio; see pricing for what each plan adds. To hear it answer before you sign up, see District AI.

Frequently asked questions

Does District Studio cost extra?

No. It is the part of the dashboard where you set up District AI, and District AI is included on every plan.

Do I need to set anything up again?

No. Your greeting, voice, skills and connections are exactly as you left them. They now sit under District Studio instead of Platform Settings, and old links take you to the right page.

Where did my phone numbers go?

They stay in Platform Settings, with your providers, outbound settings and compliance list. District Studio holds everything about how your receptionist behaves; Platform Settings keeps the line itself.

Can I change my business hours and services after setup now?

Yes. The Knowledge page has a business facts editor for your hours, address, services and common questions. The workspace owner can change them at any time, and District AI answers from the new version on its next call.
